The Palms-to-Pines Highway. The names evokes images of mountain and desert, and the ability to see both in a relatively short period of time on the same road. A part of present-day Highway 74, the Pines-to-Palms Highway is one of the most beautiful and interesting drives in Riverside County. Known for scenic views of the desert, widely varied plant communities, and unique geologic features, it has been an attraction to motorists since it opened in June 1932.
