The 2009 Periscope - A Collection of Stories and Recollections About The Coachella Valley
This 2009 Periscope is a reprinting of the 1978 Periscope - the very first Periscope published by the Coachella Valley Historical Society. The contributors' stories are the stories of courage, ingenuity, perserverance and sense of humor as they dealt with the tough terrain, unbelievably hot weather and lack of the conveniences we take for granted today. Coachella Valley, in the 1890's and early 1900's, was a new "land of opportunity" when times were though economically in the settled areas of the United States. This place, however, required new ways of farming and getting crops to market, and simply day-to-day living. Coachella Valley Historical Society, 2009 (re-printing of 1978 issue), 36 pages, paperback
